FAQ
Product FAQs
Q. What type of tallow do you use?
A. We only use suet tallow from 100% grass-fed cows that are born and raised on regenerative farms in the United States. We never use tallow from factory-farmed cows that are fed a toxic diet of GMO and glyphosate-sprayed grains. Suet tallow is a type of tallow that is specifically made from the fat that surrounds the kidneys of cows.
Q. Why do you use suet tallow?
A. Suet tallow is considered superior to other types of tallow for certain applications due to its unique properties.
- Higher melting point: Suet tallow has a higher melting point than other types of tallow, which means it is more solid at room temperature. This makes it ideal for use in products such soap and body balms.
- Neutral scent: Some types of tallow can have a strong, unpleasant odor. Suet tallow, however, has a neutral scent, which makes it more suitable for use in skincare and other products where fragrance is not desired.
- Higher quality fat: Suet is considered a higher quality fat than other types of animal fat, such as leaf fat. This is because suet is located closer to the animal's internal organs, which means it is less likely to be contaminated with impurities or toxins.
Q. Are your tallow balms greasy?
A. Not at all! Our tallow balms are not greasy because they are made from rendered suet, which has a similar composition to the natural oils in our skin. Unlike plant-based or petroleum-based skincare, our tallow balms are easily absorbed and do not leave a greasy residue on the skin.
Q. Do your tallow balms smell like beef?
We only use suet tallow, which has a neutral scent when compared to fat from other parts of the cow. During the rendering process, any impurities and water are removed from the suet, leaving behind a pure, odorless fat.
